The event gave young people the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas on how they can be more involved and make sure their voices are heard in their communities.

Kieran Cowan, Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament said: “I really enjoyed taking part in this event. It was a lot of fun and there were lots of good points made. It’s important that young people have their say and get involved in what’s happening all around them. A lot of the decisions that are taken now will affect us in the future so it’s important that we take part and have our say.”

Glenrothes Area Committee Chair, Cllr. Bill Brown, said: “Next year is a special year for Glenrothes; not only will the town celebrate its 70th birthday, it’s also the Year of Young People. Young people are the future and it’s important that they are involved, included and feel part of what is happening in their local area.

“I was very impressed with the ideas and suggestions that were talked about and I’m confident that the future of the area is in safe hands.”

JP Easton CLD Area Manager added: "This was was an interactive event, and the young people came up with some constructive ideas on how to improve pupil voice as well as connect with Community Planning. This would make a great annual event and I look forward to working with the Youth Council members on Celebrations for Glenrothes 70th birthday and developing ideas into actions."
